Pot of Sunshine
this afternoons dose of marigold yellow reminds me of pure sunshine 🌞 I shared a mini tutorial in my stories to follow along. These flowers were from yesterday’s post. ✨I found these beauties growing abundantly in bushes last year, and their scent was so strong (medicinal!) that it made my house incredibly fragrant. They’ve been left to dry and I’ve collected their seeds in addition to creating a brilliant dye bath with them. •••.
It’s a fairly simple dye to use and has such a strong colour, I used around 25% WOF to create a vibrant hue, using mordanted linen and organic cotton. Tomorrow I will share the finished dye results. yesterday’s marigold dye results after having a moment to dry, still just as vibrant!✨I posted a mini tutorial in my stories while dyeing with these medicinal & historic plants - the garments still have an aroma that is so sweet, like rich earth meets honey sunshine 🌞 This is one of my favourite colours, a brilliant chromatic therapy for the senses 〰️ Have you tried dyeing with marigolds? What dye projects are you working on at home?
